Generally two criteria are taken into consideration for price fixation in meat goat.
1-Body weight of goat
2-Market price of Chevon (Goat Meat)
50% of live body weight of a goat  is considered as chevon
Exa- Body weight of a  goat is 20Kg and Price per KG of Chevon(goat meat)= Rs 450/-
In above situation we can get  about 20/2= 10 kg meat from the goat
Hence approximate price of the  goat is 450x10= 4500
Price of the  goat will be  Rs4500/-approximaty

DISCUSSION ON DAIRY FARMING / Re: DAIRY COMMUNITY
« Last post by odishavet on Today at 11:46:52 AM »
 Dear Mr. Saurav
There is no problem in starting a dairy farm with 50% cows and 50% buffaloes. Probably government subsidy is not available for large dairy farms in west Bengal. Animal number in dairy farm under DEDS is limited to 10 only. You can start your  dairy farm with bank loan without subsidy. However you can avail subsidy for your goat farm under scheme Integrated Development of Small Ruminants and Rabbits (IDSRR-EDEG). I would suggest you to undergo training on dairy and goat farming . Market study is highly essential before entering farming business. Labourers  can be trained for dairy farm work and can be  appointed on yearly basis. I don’t have any contact of Labourers.

There is another thing that is coming to my mind, where can i get skilled dairy labourers, those can be trusted upon, I have heard that there are contractors who supply dairy workers from bihar. do u have any source, if yes kindly inform me.

Dear Mr. Satya
You can start your poultry farm without deep litter system. You can adopt cage rearing system. There is no problem in starting a poultry farm in a multi stored  housing system.  You can use thermostat in controlled housing system .

Dear Mr. Amir
You can start broiler farm in lease land and avail subsidy under government of India scheme PVCF(EDEG). I don’t have any contact for leasing land in your area. Measure risk factor for poultry industry is avian influenza (Bird flu). You can protect your farm against bird flu by taking strict bio-security measures. Fluctuating market price of both inputs and outputs are other risk factors. Go through pollution control guideline thoroughly before finalizing lease land.
